My late uncle, a master custom cabinet maker, mentored me in the art of woodworking, while farm life taught me invaluable skills in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, landscaping
Growing up as a farm boy in Wilson County, North Carolina, I developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for hands-on craftsmanship at an early age. My late uncle, a master custom cabinet maker, mentored me in the art of woodworking, while farm life taught me invaluable skills in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, landscaping, and, above all, discipline. I learned the importance of accountability and the significance of honoring every commitment I made.
After completing my college education, I spent several years in sales. However, I soon realized that my true passion lay in my roots—working with my hands and building something meaningful. This realization led me back to Wilson County, where I embarked on the journey of developing what is now known as Buckhorn Crossing. In 2000, I transformed a 25-acre tract of land, located just west of the city limits, into the county's first subdivision with streetlights. Today, Buckhorn Crossing is a peaceful, family-oriented community that reflects the values I hold dear.
As the site developer, builder, and real estate agent for Buckhorn Crossing, I applied the lessons learned from my farm upbringing. The challenges were less daunting because of the rigorous work ethic I had cultivated. Over the years, I developed and refined a systematic approach that I continue to uphold 24 years later:
- Planning: We begin by establishing a clear plan with 100% buy-in from all participants.
- Execution: We meticulously carry out the project, ensuring all required inspections are passed, and licensed subcontractors contribute their expertise. We address any change orders and field revisions promptly.
- Completion: We verify that all code compliances are met and resolve any issues to ensure total client satisfaction.
This methodology has guided me throughout my career, bringing me to the brink of my 25th anniversary in the construction industry. Each project is a learning experience, and my ultimate goal remains unchanged—total client satisfaction.
